PAGES FROM MY JOURNAL 6

December 7 I think people resort to violence because they fell that is the easiest way to get back or get even with someone. They would also maybe want to get revenge by doing something so terrible that it might hurt them not physically mentally. Like if they were to kill their whole family and leave them alone to suffer the pain of feeling alone.  December 9 If I could interview one person I would choose the Houston rapper Travis Scott. I would want to interview Travis Scott because he is one of my favorite rapper of this generation along with people like Kenrick Lamar, Denzel Curry, Kanye West, Playboi Carti, and many others. I also enjoy listening to his music while doing work or chores around the house. I would ask him about his journey from being another boy from Houston, Texas to becoming a superstar and working with big brand deals like McDonalds.   December 10 I think the phrase "The early bird gets the worm" means you have to be first to get the prize. I think pe...

FINAL REFLECTION FOR WORLD LITERATURE 2020-2021

From the very start of the year this course was different because of the pandemic which lead to us being online instead of in person. The thing I found most meaningful from our experience was that the teachers tried to connect with us and help us through this tough period. I am most proud of being able to keep up with most of my work from all my classes. One thing I could have done better is turning in all my work on time or earlier and not procrastinate. One thing I learned in this course that I can use in the future is that I should take time out of my day and just meditate whether it be for 1 minute or more just to cooldown after a stressful day. Some texts I have read is parts of Les Mis, A Bad Beginning, and The Reptile Room. Three literary techniques that made these texts effective were characterization, mood and symbolism.

LES MIS BOOK 2 CHAPTER 7

Jean Valjean recognizes the fact that he is not an innocent man due to him trying to steal a piece of bread. He then realizes he should have been more patient. Jean Valjean believed his punishment was unfair although he knew he deserved a punishment which was more fair. It also shows how Jean Valjean could be a threat to the people in the town.

LES MIS BOOK 2 CHAPTER 6

Jean Valjean had lost his parents at a very early age. His father died after falling from a tree and his mother had died of a milk fever. He also had a sister. They both worked hard but were miserable. Then came winter which left Jean Valjean without work which meant him and her sister along with her children would starve. Jean Valjean had then tried to steal a piece of bread for his family. Jean Valjean was then pronounced guilty. It is also showing how Jean Valjean was a good person who was forced to do bad things to survive. It also shows all the details of how Jean Valjean got to the point that he is there.

LES MIS BOOK 2 CHAPTER 5

The home of the bishop was very well arranged. Jean Valjean asks the bishop why he trust someone who could possible be a killer. The bishop then said that he feels faithful towards god.

LES MIS BOOK 2 CHAPTER 4

Jean Valjean was complaining about how the food was better where he got kicked out compared to the food in the bishops home. He then said that he had to leave the next day. Then after they said their prayers and retired to their own chambers.

November 30 One idea I can apply to my life from Les Mis is that people do sometimes form an opinion from a first expression. Another idea was that in Les Mis they are kind of similar to real life at the moment due to the pandemic. December 1 My relationship with others influence me but not as much as I influence myself. This is due to the fact that I am aware what I want to do for myself which helps me from time to time. December 4 I would try my best to not make eye contact or talk to the other person unless I am required to. For example if I am hungry or if I want to go out for a walk. Also, I would try to stay out of their way if they have the same enmity as me towards them.

LES MIS BK 2 CH 3

The person knocking on the door was the same person who was looking for shelter. He then tells his story to the bishop and the 2 women. He is surprised that the bishop accepts the man to stay in his home. This shocks Jean Valjean due to the fact that everyone rejected him. The women are suspicious but the Bishop isn't.

LES MIS BK 2 CH 2

All the people had a bad feeling that something bad was going to take place in town. Madame Magloire seems to be a bit impatient and in a hurry. She is also telling the bishop to get a lock for his door but that's when he got a knock at the door. The bishop then told the person on the other side of the door to come in.

PAGES FROM MY JOURNAL 4

November 16: I am thankful for my parents because they have helped take care of me, help me grow as a person, cheer me on to become a successful person and they helped me have a place I can call home for all these years. November 17: I think one way I can prepare for a disaster is by being aware of my surroundings. This can help by helping me know which route can gat me to a curtain area if I would ever need to evacuate . I can also look at the news to see if their is any sudden weather change. We can also travel to other family members homes if we need to evacuate the state. November 18: First impressions are important because people could judge you only off of that. For example, if they enjoy your presence and attitude they might be comfortable being around you, but if your giving off negative energy through your actions or words they might just keep an eye on you.

LES MIS PART 1 SUMMARY

At the Moment Les miserables seems to be about the French revolution. It shows multiple sides of the story but mainly focuses on the bishops journey. It shows just how weird and interesting the bishop is seen as by many people. He also seems to be an amazing and trustworthy person which may have had to do with his past maturing him and making him into a man.     A connection I made about Les Miserables and the French Revolution is that they were around the same time just separated from 20 years. Les mis also shows just how much some people suffered whether it was by losing money, their homes, or there own lives.      One connection I have made about Les Mis and my own lived experiences is that people could judge you only from your first impression. Another thing I connected was that very few people are like the bishop who are nice, helpful, and feel no need to fear of anything. Lastily there are many poor areas like there are while the bisho...

LES MIS BOOK 2 CHAPTER 1

The antagonist seems to be a former prisoner that just got released from prison. After going towards a town he noticed that he was not welcomed. There were people looking at him to keep an eye on him thinking he was going to cause trouble. He tried to get supper and a bed. He was waiting for his meal until someone told him that they couldn't serve him even thought he had money to pay. Children started throwing rocks which lead to the former prisoner to threatened the children. He also asks someone if he can stay in their home for the night but he gets denied. It seems that people make their first impression from what they are told which could very be false but want to keep an eye on him. He also seems to be good at fencing.

LITERAL ANALYSIS

   1) The book I am currently reading is Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. It is about this kid named Harry who discovers he was a wizard since birth. He then attends the wizarding school Hogwarts. He makes some friends along the way.     2) I believe the theme of the book is somewhat Identity and Growing Up since he realizes who he really is and is growing as in knowledge wise.     3) From the author's tone I would imagine that they sleep late since she puts in a lot of effort on her books which normally means they work on their book a lot, mostly in the night so that would lead to wake up late. I think this since the main character is sort of the same as what I portray her to be like. I would imagine she would drink coffee and meditate since it seems she doesn't write too much about hatred which could mean she meditates to release her stress. I would think she would get hungover from time to time due to her success. I would think she wo...

Pages From My Journal 3

November 2 I miss all of my close friends since we would go to the movie theatres to watch scary and comedy movies. I personally enjoyed going out to the movies with my friends since it felt nice to connect with each other outside of school. I also have some of my most favorite memories in the movie theatre.  November 3 Thee making of extraordinary thing while being stressed I think is possible because of your blood boiling and being a bit angry which can make some people feel more power and feeling the need to release it in some form. I can apply this idea over the next few weeks in order to achieve my goals. November 5 Uncertainty makes me feel sad and makes me go into a deep look at all my thoughts. I believe uncertainty can be both good and bad. One way uncertainty can be good is by waiting to see what you get for Christmas. While one way uncertainty can be bad is if you get told your parents were in the hospital after a car crash you would be worried.

LES MIS 12

In Chapter 12 of Miserables it seems that there are bigwigs and big mitres in the Church. Monseignur Bienvenu who was poor, humble, retiring wasn't accounted as one of the big mitres. It is also shown in this chapter that succes is a very hideous thing.

LES MIS CH 11

Chapter 11 of Les Miserables seems a bit interesting to me. It shows that at times the bishop feels less of a person than others. Monseigneur Bienvenu seems to be a intelligent, humble and dignified person. He also filled the town of D----- with a sort of tender and filial reverence.

LES MIS CHAPTER 10

The bishop gave a visit to an old man who lived far from the city who very few people visited. The old man claims that the bishop is a brave man for visiting him since he is going to die any time soon. They have a long talk about all sorts of topics even at one point about the French.

LEARNING WITH CLARK QUINN (CREDIT OPPORTUNITY)

I spent my afternoon listening to Dr. Quinn who talked about learning science, using technology to support learning at personal and institutional levels, and engagement and motivation. He was stating that it seems more difficult to learn at your own pace in times like these. Dr. Quinn also learned of a French phrase that Mr. Preston told him about which means that you think of the right thing to say after the conversation is over. There is a different discipline in science which we haven't learned yet according to Dr. Quinn. When offering ideas in science you have to be careful what you say since it can be held against you from what I understand from Dr. Quinn. When you ask 600 people if they ever use quadratic equations only 2 would raise their hand according to Dr. Quinn. He believes that together (the students and teacher) we can work for the teacher to show what we need for the test while they try and make the learning experience interesting. Clark ...

LES MIS CHAPTER 9

The Bishop of D----- seems to be perfect simplicity. Baptistine believes that her brothers end would then prove her own. She decided to keep this to herself which could be foreshaadow that something is wrong and she know but wont say a thing which will lead a trail of negative things that could possibly happen.

HOW WE READ

The four strategies to love reading are to read books you love, seek to better understand the books you don't love, reconsidering how we define the word read, and develop expertise and the confidence that will enable you to find them yourself.      The first strategy you can do is to read books that you think you will get joy out of. You can determine if you'll enjoy the book by reading the first few pages or if its part of a series where you enjoyed the first book.     The second strategy is to try and dig deep into the author or the backstory of the book. You can do this by reading one of their previous book to maybe learn a bit more about the author, You can also, see some interviews or podcasts where the author talks about themselves.     Another strategy you can use is to try to reconsider the definition of read. I believe you can do this by trying to read more books and trying to enjoy them or spend time on reviewing th...
