LES MIS BOOK 2 CHAPTER 7
Jean Valjean recognizes the fact that he is not an innocent man due to him trying to steal a piece of bread. He then realizes he should have been more patient. Jean Valjean believed his punishment was unfair although he knew he deserved a punishment which was more fair. It also shows how Jean Valjean could be a threat to the people in the town.
